Introduction


Would you like to study English at the UIB?

Considering the growing internationalization of economics and business, and the key role played by English in this process, the Faculty of Economics & Business at the UIB is firmly committed to enhancing the international aspects of its courses and thus offers students the PATHWAY IN ENGLISH as part of their degree programmes in Economics and Business Administration. The PATHWAY IN ENGLISH will help students improve their language skills and learn to use English in the fields of economics and business. At the same time, taking the PATHWAY IN ENGLISH will add a more international perspective to students' education and will facilitate post-graduation work placements both in the Balearic Islands and at the international level.

Pathway features

This pathway offers Faculty students the chance to study English in a significant number of subjects from the syllabus, as well as studying abroad at a university where they can study in English.

To obtain the certificate of having fulfilled the pathway in English, students must complete at least 100 ECTS of the degree in English.

That is:

  • A minimum of 60 ECTS during the first three years (including basic training and compulsory subjects).
  • Stay abroad at a university, studying English for at least one semester (30 ECTS).
  • Elaboration of the End-of-degree project in English.

The subject Business English will be accredited to those students who take the pathway in English.

In any case, the number of credits will be stated in the European Diploma Supplement, the subjects, the stays, etc. done in English, also for those students who do not meet the necessary criteria for obtaining the “Pathway in English” qualification.

How to apply 

The following document contains the detailed steps to enroll in the pathway in English for both the Bachelor's Degree in Economics and the Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.

IMPORTANT: The maximum number of students per group in each of the degrees is 23.

In case there are more than 23 interested students, their academic records and their level of English will be taken into account, and students can be asked to pass a personal interview. If the number of students who enrol in the course is too small, the Faculty may decide whether to cancel the offer or not.

Current offer of subjects taught in English

Studying a course in English means that all the teaching activities related to the course are done in English:

Lessons will be done in English, including the student-teacher interaction, exercises, tests, papers and classroom presentations.

Materials will be given primarily in English: PowerPoint slides, articles, readings, textbooks, audiovisual material. Material can be delivered in Catalan / Spanish according to its interest, if there are no available translations (newspaper articles in Spanish / Catalan, technical documents, etc.).
